Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara was born in and lived in Barranquilla, Colombia. Their mother, Margarita Vergara Davila de Vergara is a homemaker. Their father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo has a cow for the industry of meat. She is the youngest of five sisters. The school she attended was an English/Spanish bilingual private high school. When she completed her dental school in the field, she started working in the television and modeling industry. However, Sofia was discovered by a photographer, whilst at the beach. It was the catalyst for a number of job opportunities for modeling and TV. In her 23rd year she began her career as an actress. She co-hosted the travel show Fuera de serie (1996) between 1995 and 1998. The show brought her attention to the American public. The first film appearance she had was in the crime comedy Big Trouble (2002). Gloria Delgado Pritchett was the role that made her the main character on Modern Family, an American television series (2009). The actress won four Emmys from 2010-2013 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress on a Comedy Series. Sofia is a resident of Los Angeles, California with her son, Manolo.
